“Senior Surf” Provides Special Training By Bob Zorich,
Sunrise Resident |
Learning a new skill has great beneficial results for anyone interested in improving their outlook on life and also for their over all health. Our quality of life is improved when we acquire a new expertise, it makes us strive for better tomorrows and opens the vistas on the landscape before us. “Senior Surf,” a non-profit or-ganization, was created to bringing the wonders of the Internet, E-Mail, Word Processing, and other enhancements of the computer to Senior Citizens through training services. Professionals of “Senior Surf” guide and train seniors, using a patient and logical approach for each level of learning.
There are three levels of instruction offered: the Beginning Level, the Intermediate Level, and the Advanced Level. Each one of these categories present a different scenario of skills that are taught in a comfortable manner that allow the seniors to easily absorb the material presented.
A brief look at these
courses reveals the following descriptions of each: the Beginner Class demon-strates
beginning Internet and basic Windows, a Microsoft product for Word Processing;
the Intermediate Level develops Word Processing and Internet “surfing;” the
Advanced Step covers advanced “surfing,” and multimedia computer usage.
The sessions are taught once a week, an hour each, for a total of eight hours.
The cost for the entire course is $120; this equates to $15 per hour. The classes
are held in our Fine Arts Hall, with “Senior Surf” providing lap top computers
and all instructional materials. The initial course has been progressing in
a timely and beneficial manner, with the next class to start in July business.
This is a marvelous opportunity to spread your wings, not only intellectually,
but also in a very practical manner. We urge all residents to consider taking
advantage of this offering.
